About

The name of this blog comes from a quote belonging to Vaclav Havel. Havel was a leader in the opposition movement in Czechloslavakia following the Prague Spring of 1968. He was a leader in the Velvet Revolution, through which Czechloslovakia ended communist rule peacefully. He was the first president of the Czech Republic and led the nation through its transition to democracy and accession into NATO. Havel is also known for his writings, both political and theatrical.

Hope is definitely not the same thing as optimism. It is not the conviction that something will turn out well, but the certainty that something makes sense, regardless of how it turns out.

Work for something because it is good, not just because it stands a chance to succeed.
